Job summary

STHS McAllen in McAllen, TX, seeks an experienced registered nurse to support the Stroke Program with concurrent medical record review, data management, and regulatory compliance. Under minimal supervision, you will coordinate referrals, assist with performance improvement activities, and help maintain stroke designation requirements across facilities.

This role emphasizes collaboration with leadership, staff education, and community outreach to promote high-quality stroke care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in critical care/emergency.
• Must acquire and maintain 8 CEUs related to Stroke annually
• Demonstrates competency and professionalism in verbal and written communication.
• Basic computer literacy with strong verbal and writing skills
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical and stroke terminology.
• Experience in an acute-care hospital environment.
• Hours are flexible but must work in a high-pressure environment.
• Must demonstrate commitment to Compliance Program and Code of Conduct and report issues.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and databases concurrently.
• Coordinate data collection and referrals when indicated.
• Assist with performance improvement activities and regulatory compliance.
• Educate staff and the community about stroke care initiatives.
• Support Stroke Designation maintenance across STHS facilities.
