Job summary

Sunnyside in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a RN Staff Development Coordinator to lead nursing education and staff mentoring.

You will develop, coordinate, and deliver in-service training covering clinical skills, regulatory compliance, dementia care, CPR, and EMR training, while collaborating with leadership.

This role supports infection control, quality improvement, and on-site and vendor training, with rotating on-call shifts and a commitment to person-centered care.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia.
• 3–5 years of long-term care experience.
• BSN preferred.
• Background in training adults.
• Experience as a nurse supervisor or manager preferred.
• Knowledge of long-term care regulations and compliance.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 schedule.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver in-service training programs for nursing staff.
• Ensure training meets state and federal requirements with proper documentation.
• Oversee nurse aide program management and orientation support.
• Provide coaching and skills monitoring to ensure competency.
• Support infection control efforts and vaccination activities.
• Participate in QA/QI activities and assist nursing leadership as needed.
• Coordinate CPR, CNA, and Med Tech training on-site and with vendors.
• Share on-call and weekend duties on a rotating basis.
• Pursue continuing education to stay current with educational methods.
