Job summary

Huntsville Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nurse House Supervisor to oversee nursing staff allocation each shift, ensuring safe patient care and acting as a resource to staff, physicians, and patients. The role emphasizes leadership, coordination, and adherence to hospital policies.

Responsibilities include staffing planning with the Staffing Coordinator, adjusting schedules for illness or census, supervising patient care, leading during emergencies, and ensuring documentation and compliance

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of professional nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license in the State of Texas with BLS certification.
• ACLS and PALS within 90 days of employment; TNCC and STABLE preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities; ability to perform under stress.

Responsibilities

• Allocate and assign nursing staff during the shift to ensure safe patient care.
• Serve as a resource for staff, physicians, patients, families and visitors.
• Coordinate activities within clinical areas and report outcomes to leadership.
• Collaborate with Staffing Coordinator and Nurse Managers to plan next shift staffing.
• Adjust daily schedules for illness, emergencies or census changes.
• Lead and participate in patient care as needed and assume ER responsibility when required.
• Document disciplinary issues and provide feedback for evaluations.
• Oversee drug records, crash cart checks, and supply management.
• Respond to emergencies and provide leadership during resuscitation when appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and infection control practices.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges and bed management.
