Job summary

ARMStaffing is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant to support surgical teams in the operating room. The role involves exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other technical tasks under surgeon supervision. You will ensure patient safety and adherence to hospital policies.

Requirements include a Wisconsin RN license, completion of an RNFA or recognized first-assisting program, and BLS within 6 months. Travel reimbursement, housing allowance, and benefits are offered.

Registered Nurse First Assistant

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 7 AM - 5:30 PM. Call one weekend out of a month, plus 7 additional nights of call during the month.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse First Assistant assists the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other technical tasks during surgery, ensuring safety and optimal patient outcomes under the surgeon’s supervision and in accordance with hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team to prepare and organize sterile supplies, instruments, equipment, and drapes for surgical procedures.
• Support the surgical team in positioning the patient safely for the surgical procedure.
• Assist in providing visualization and utilize techniques to assist with hemostasis.
• Utilize appropriate visualization of the operative site.
• Assist with closure of body planes using proper techniques.
• Apply appropriate wound dressing.
• Assist in inserting and securing drainage systems to tissue.
• Safely utilize surgical equipment and supplies such as pneumatic tourniquets, electrocautery, and endoscopy equipment.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program or other recognized first-assisting education program.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• 1+ years of related operating room/surgical experience preferred.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
