Job summary

The Jesse Brown VA Risk Manager Registered Nurse (RN) leads the risk management program across the medical center, coordinating with patient safety and performance improvement efforts. The role requires a current RN license, English proficiency, and experience in risk management to reduce liability and improve care quality.

Preferred candidates hold an MSN and have demonstrated collaboration with attorneys, patients, and healthcare teams.

Qualifications

• English proficiency (written and spoken) is required.
• Current, full, active RN license in a US state or territory (DC, PR, etc.).
• MSN preferred; risk management experience highly valued.
• Bridge program path for RN licensure is considered in some cases.
• Foreign nursing credentials require evaluation for equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and maintains the risk management program.
• Coordinates risk management with patient safety and quality initiatives.
• Provides consultation and training to staff on risk and tort matters.
• Maintains ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
• Advises executive leadership on risk management activities.
• Supports planning of risk management at JBVA and clinics.
• Telework not available; standard M-F 8:00–4:30 schedule.
