Job summary

Mohawk Valley Health System seeks a RN - Clinical Risk Manager to lead risk management across the MVHS system, enhance patient safety and promote a culture of safety. The CRM administers the risk program, analyzes data, conducts proactive assessments, and provides education with regulatory compliance guidance.

The role partners with legal, quality and compliance teams, manages insurance claims, and serves on safety committees to identify and reduce organizational risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in risk management, clinical, quality and/or legal work.
• Leadership, critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Outstanding written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Current NYS RN or allied health professional licensure.
• Master's degree preferred; CP HRM certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates MVHS's clinical risk management program to meet system needs and regulatory standards.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across MVHS system; promote patient safety.
• Review and analyze occurrence reports related to risk, quality, and insurance concerns.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations and coordinate peer reviews.
• Prepare incident summaries and submit required reports to authorities.
• Monitor risk management data and provide risk management consultation.
• Deliver education programs to raise staff awareness of risk exposure.
• Collaborate with Quality/Performance Improvement and other areas to set safety goals.
• Partner with legal counsel on litigation processes and insurance claims.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge and liaise with brokers, underwriters, and third parties.
• Serve on system risk/patient safety/quality committees and embed risk awareness.
