RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. This full shift RN role (evening) involves direct patient care, rapid assessment, and collaboration with physicians to deliver safe, effective treatment.

You will be a clinical resource, perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, educate families, and document in EPIC EMR. Active NJ RN license and BLS/ACLS/PALS are required; a BSN is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS & PALS certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
• At least one year ED patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care.
• Serve as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers.
• Educate patients and families so they feel informed and supported.
• Document care in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.

The Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the Region, caring for about 240 patients of all ages daily in Triage, Main ED & Cardiac/Trauma.

The RN will be attending all Codes and be a Resource to the staff

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS & PALS certification. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is at least one year current ED patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers 3 12 hour evening shifts/week 1p-1:30a, allowing you to build strong staff & patient relationships while maintaining balance.
