Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced RN for the Emergency Department at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. The role features 3 twelve-hour day shifts weekly (7:00 am–7:30 pm) with strong teamwork and patient‑centered care.

The RN will perform comprehensive assessments, administer evidence-based treatments, document in EPIC, and collaborate with physicians to ensure safe, coordinated care. A NJ RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and ED experience are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license
• BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
• At least 1 year ED/acute care experience
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR

Responsibilities

The Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the Region, caring for about 240 patients of all ages daily in Triage, Main ED & Cardiac/Trauma.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS & PALS certification. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is at least one year current patient care experience in acute care or ED and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers 3 12 hour day shifts/week 7a-7:30p, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
