Job summary

UAB Medicine is recruiting for a Nursing Unit Manager to oversee activities, workflow, and staffing for assigned nursing units at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, staff hiring, training, development and performance evaluation, ensuring efficient patient care delivery. The position requires licensed RN status with Alabama Board of Nursing, BLS within 30 days, and demonstrated leadership with at least 3 years of experience plus 1 year in a leadership

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within unit.
• Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s). Develop and implement policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
• Monitor and adhere to budget. Approve or monitor expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
