Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Case Manager to lead delivery of quality patient care within the Case Management department. The role focuses on adherence to policies, procedures and case management protocols while guiding nursing staff performance.

The position requires a Diploma in Nursing and Alabama RN licensure, with BLS preferred. Responsibilities include onboarding, precepting new associates, and contributing to hiring and development for an efficient care team.

Qualifications

• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date.
• BLS Provider preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the process of monitoring, guiding and evaluating nursing staff performance.
• Coordinate activities, prioritize workflow, and promote decision-making and problem solving.
• Serve as a first point of escalation for team members needing consultation for and/or management of patients requiring complex or advanced treatment/care.
• Provide onboarding support to new associates.
• Function as a preceptor to new associates and work with management to develop and adjust the orientation plan.
• Provide input into hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff as well as day-to-day operational support to management as needed.
