Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks an RN - Registered Nurse for Labor & Delivery to provide direct nursing care in alignment with policies. This full-time night shift (7p-7a) position is located at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham in the Labor & Delivery - Birth Suites department.

The role involves implementing and monitoring care plans, coordinating multidisciplinary care, following physician and nursing orders, and assisting with discharge planning.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire/transfer date.
• ACLS certification within 180 days of hire/transfer date.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Coordinate care across disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
