Job description

RN / Registered Nurse - Inpatient Psychiatry - Per Diem - Variable

The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care provided to patients. This nurse leads the nursing team in care delivery as directed by the attending physician and in collaboration with other healthcare providers, in accordance with ProMedica Acute Care Hospitals' policies and philosophy. Actively participates in creating an environment that fosters satisfaction among patients, families, physicians, and employees. Ensures decisions are based on patient and family-centered care, utilizing evidence-based practices focused on safety, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.

Scope of Service: The RN provides nursing care to individuals and groups requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills from biological, physical, behavioral, social, spiritual/cultural, and nursing sciences. The RN practices within the full scope of nursing as defined by the Board of Nursing for their state, complying with hospital and accrediting body standards.

  2. Recognizes the patient or designee as the source of control and full partner in providing compassionate, coordinated care respecting patient preferences and needs.
  3. Engages patients and surrogates in active partnerships to promote health, safety, and self-care management.
  4. Addresses patient/family education needs considering their comprehension and learning styles.
  5. Coordinates care with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure appropriate transitions.
  6. Evaluates patient responses and intervenes to optimize outcomes.

  2. Integrates current best evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences for optimal healthcare delivery.
  3. Creates individualized care plans based on patient values, clinical expertise, and evidence.

  2. Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for each patient.
  3. Analyzes problems and makes sound judgments using critical thinking.
  1. Safety and Quality Improvement
  2. Minimizes harm through safety measures and quality improvement initiatives.
  3. Administers medications and executes regimens per licensure.
  4. Uses quality data and technology to improve performance and safety.
  5. Participates in quality projects and promotes error prevention.
  6. Reports safety concerns and near misses.

  2. Uses technology to communicate, manage information, and support decision-making.
  3. Documents care accurately and timely in electronic health records.
  4. Responds to clinical decision support alerts and advocates for record integrity and privacy.

  2. Fosters open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making with patients, families, and healthcare team.
  3. Coordinates patient care through effective team interactions.

  6. Supervises ancillary staff as appropriate.
  1. Other Duties
  2. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of 24 contact hours of continuing education during licensure period, including at least 1 hour related to Ohio nurse practice code.
  • Current Ohio RN license.
  • Current CPR certification; additional certifications as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Working Conditions: PPE use, exposure to various environmental factors, physical demands including moving patients, standing, walking, and lifting.
