Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Intermediate Care Unit. This full-time night shift role involves providing advanced nursing care, continuous monitoring, and rapid response to patient changes.

The ideal candidate will have a nursing degree, Alabama RN license, BLS/Healthcare Provider certification, and at least 1 year of RN experience in a critical care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Alabama RN license required; BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients with high-intensity interventions and continuous monitoring.
• Uses clinical judgment to anticipate, prioritize, and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors (cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic).
• Responds to emergencies with life-saving interventions and predefined protocols when physicians are unavailable.
• Assesses patient needs, develops individual care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients/families.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and supports unit/hospital goals.
• Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrates compassionate, age-appropriate care while upholding patient rights and a therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, including complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.

• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.

• Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic systems.

• Responds to emergencies with evidence-based, life-saving interventions and preplanned protocols when physicians are unavailable.

• Assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients and families.

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, serves in leadership or educational roles, and supports unit and hospital goals.

• Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures compliance with regulatory and evidence-based standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license.

• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

• Must have at least 1 year of RN experience.
