About Description

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline overlooking Corpus Christi Bay is the largest and foremost acute care medical facility in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It is the leading emergency facility in the area with a Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.

The Pavilion and North Tower house a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab and surgical suites.

A teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine.

Accredited Chest Pain Center.

Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, consistent with ANA standards.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side-effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS required.
• RN License in the state of employment or compact.
• Certification in Nephrology Nursing preferred.
• Water Treatment Knowledge Exam within twelve weeks of employment.
• Hemodialysis Knowledge Exam within twelve weeks of employment.
• Certification in Nephrology Nursing preferred, required within 1 year of eligibility.
