Job Summary
Burn Unit Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for the care of patients with burn injuries. The role involves collaboration with a dedicated team and provision of comfort and healing to patients and families.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Performs the administration of prescribed medications, monitors patient for therapeutic response, and notifies provider and intervenes in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Conducts a complete patient evaluation before procedures, including review of patient history, diagnostic tests, physical and psychological assessments, ensures patient/family/caregiver understanding of the procedure and peri-operative process, and obtains and witnesses consent.
- Engages in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach‑Back, and Narrating Care.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including active listening, ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues understand all communications, and escalates care concerns appropriately.
Qualifications
- Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse or hold an active compact license with an active FL RN license within 60 days of hire.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse Diploma or Associate Degree.
