SoftPath Medical is seeking a Med-Surgical Unit Nurse for a 23-bed unit in Durham, NC. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and occasional weekend/holiday coverage.

The role requires telemetry experience and the ability to interpret cardiac strips, plus comfort managing CPAP and BiPAP equipment on the unit. Unit-specific orientation is provided (2–3 shifts); there is no call or floating.

Competenze

• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience.

Med-Surgical Unit Nurse Position

Unit Overview

• Unit Type: Med-Surg Unit
• Number of Beds: 23
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS

Patient Population

• Surgical patients including orthopedic, general, spinal, and gender reassignment cases.

Experience and Skills

• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience required
• Must have telemetry experience and be able to interpret cardiac strips
• Comfortable managing CPAP and BiPAP equipment
• Critical patients are transferred to a larger hospital

Clinical Responsibilities

• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• No common titratable or set rate drips on this unit
• Telemetry monitors are present; RNs are responsible for reading their own strips

Staffing and Support

• Charge nurse does not take patient assignments
• Nurse aide ratio is 1:12

Respiratory Therapy Equipment

• BiPAP and CPAP devices are used on the unit.

Scheduling and Work Hours

• 12-hour shifts, three days per week
• Shift hours: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Occasional weekend and holiday coverage required; some weekend staff designated
• No call or standby requirements
• No floating required

Dress Code and Orientation

• Registered nurses wear black scrubs
• Nursing assistants wear grey scrubs
• Unit-specific orientation provided, lasting 2-3 shifts
