Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Facility: Cobb Hospital

The RN Clinical Nurse ensures licensed practice, adheres to the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. They uphold patient advocacy, system policies, and service excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care.
• Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care respecting cultural diversity.
• Partners with patients and significant others through bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education, focusing on patient goals.
• Practices according to current clinical standards.
• Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, promoting respectful, inclusive communication and a positive clinical environment.
• Demonstrates teamwork, responsible resource use, and supports performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance.
• Completes professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
• Serves as preceptor or mentor to foster workforce development and a healthy work environment.
• Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement, participating in data collection and clinical questions.
• Proactively plans patient care across the continuum, developing protocols and supporting resource efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned and complies with organizational policies and standards.

Minimum Education

• Associates or Bachelor's Nursing degree (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor preferred

Experience

• Minimum 5 years RN experience, preferably in direct patient care
