Job Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment managed by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and aligned with Wellstar Values.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating effectively with the care team.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics, respecting cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and their significant others through methods like bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education, focusing care plans on patient goals.
  • Practices according to current clinical standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates safe, quality care documentation and delivery, fostering respectful and inclusive communication and environment.
  • Demonstrates teamwork that is fiscally responsible and promotes recruitment and retention.
  • Supports performance improvement initiatives and participates in shared governance.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes competency assessments and mandatory education.
  • Serves as preceptor/mentor to ensure workforce development and modeling professional nursing practice.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Promotes research and quality improvement, participates in data collection, and consults evidence-based resources for practice questions.
Resources and Support
  • Plans patient care proactively across the continuum and develops protocols to improve outcomes.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all organizational policies and standards.

Minimum Education and Certifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Nursing degree preferred.
  • Valid RN license (single-state or multi-state Compact) and BLS certification required upon hire.
Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of RN experience, preferably in direct patient care.
  • Proficient in English, with basic computer skills, and excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
