RN - PT Nights - MedSurg Oncology (24-hour week)

Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the MedSurg Oncology unit, working part-time nights for a 24-hour week. Be among the first 25 applicants to apply for this opportunity.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team, ensuring patients, families, and significant others receive high-quality, safe, personalized care. They work in a clinical environment overseen by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Facility: Cobb Hospital

The RN must be licensed and knowledgeable, adhering to the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association's Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics. As part of the patient services team, the RN upholds patient advocacy, system policies, and service excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking to provide individualized care.
  • Delivers relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics and cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and families through effective communication methods, such as bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education, focusing on patient goals.
  • Practices according to current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Coordinates safe, quality care documentation and delivery, promoting respectful interdisciplinary communication and a supportive clinical environment.
  • Practices fiscally responsible teamwork, supporting recruitment and retention.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance activities.

Professional Development and Initiative

  • Completes required competencies and education, serving as preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce and healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

  • Advocates for evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement, participating in data collection and clinical inquiry.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and standards, including safety goals and accreditation requirements.

Resources and Support

  • Plans for patient care across the continuum and contributes to protocol development to improve outcomes.
  • Supports efficient resource use.

Minimum Education & Certifications

  • Associate or Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • Valid RN license (single state or multi-state compact).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of RN experience, preferably in direct patient care.
  • Excellent communication, technology, and critical thinking skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies.
