Job summary

Manchester Memorial Hospital, a Hartford HealthCare facility, seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide direct and indirect patient-centered care within the Behavioral Health/psychiatric setting. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to respond quickly to changes in patient condition and ensure safety and therapeutic milieu.

Requirements include CT nursing license, de-escalation training, and RQI certification within three months.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and have a current Registered Nurse license with the state of Connecticut.
• Must be trained in de-escalation techniques, and receive certification within the orientation period of hire.
• Must receive RQI certification within three (3) months of hire and maintain clinical competency during employment within this role.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of the patient’s condition and care needs including psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
• Assess and reassess pain; educate patient and family regarding pain management; document interventions and evaluations.
• Develops and revises individualized treatment plans with patient and family involvement; evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
• Follows the seven medication rights to reduce medication errors; understands psychotropic medications and appropriate administration by age and condition.
• Documents the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner using appropriate tools.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment; respond to emergencies with sound judgment.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary treatment team to meet patient needs.
