Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a qualified registered nurse to deliver exceptional patient care. Candidates must possess a valid RN license in Louisiana and necessary certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Qualifications

  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire is required.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire is required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire is required.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
  • Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family, and other disciplines.
  • Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources, serving as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
  • Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and improvement in the profession of nursing.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including privacy respect, introduction, explaining services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Work Experience Required: None.

Certifications Required: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association; Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire; Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire. Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Good organizational and time management skills; ability to be self‑directed.

Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical demands of this position include occasional lifting of 50‑100 lbs, frequent lifting of 25‑50 lbs, frequent lifting of 10‑20 lbs, and other duties requiring standing, walking, and moving objects. The role also involves exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste. Reasonable accommodations may be made for persons with disabilities.
