Job summary

CP02 Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is seeking a full-time RN for the Progressive Care Unit, working night shifts. This role involves providing care for patients of all ages, conducting assessments, and collaborating with healthcare teams. The position offers a compensation range of $33.52 – $50.28 per hour based on qualifications.

Qualifications

Requisition Number: R154117 – RN – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights (Open)

Sign‑On Bonus: $15,000 for experienced RNs, $10,000 for new graduate RNs.

Compensation Range: $33.52 – $50.28 per hour (based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior experience). This range excludes benefits and pension plan.

Responsibilities

As a registered nurse, you will:

• Provide individualized care for patients of all ages, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Conduct age‑specific admissions and ongoing assessments, document findings, and develop a plan of care.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to develop and adjust an interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Accurately administer and document treatments and medications using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
• Identify and address patient/family educational needs, incorporating them into care plans.
• Serve as a patient advocate, protecting patient rights and providing psychological, social, and cultural support.
• Apply knowledge of growth and development to care for patients across the lifespan.
• Contribute to performance‑improvement activities and quality initiatives.
• Model clinical excellence, mentor students and physicians, and guide new staff during orientation.
• Utilize problem‑solving methods to resolve patient and personnel issues.
• Manage resources, set priorities, and adjust the environment to meet patient needs.
• Complete manager/director projects within specified time frames and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a professional nursing school at an accredited college or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• AHA BLS‑HCP required; may need to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on unit.
• Proficient in electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.
• Experience with diverse patient populations across all ages.
