How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare

Our 12-bed ICU specializes in pulmonary care, including sepsis, ARDS, and pulmonary hypertension. The unit also provides CRRT and targeted temperature management.

As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy, and contribute as a primary accountable leader in the provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Your responsibilities include collaboration, critical thinking, effective delegation, and participation in performance improvement activities.

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Conducts age-specific admissions and ongoing assessments to develop a plan of care.
  • Collaborates with the health care team and family to develop, implement, and evaluate interdisciplinary care plans.
  • Revises care plans based on changes in patient status.
  • Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents through automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
  • Identifies patient/family educational needs and incorporates them into the plan of care.
  • Contributes to performance improvement activities and functions as a patient advocate and support provider.
  • Applies knowledge of growth and development appropriate to patient age.
  • Performs clinical, leadership, and education pathways to support evidence-based care.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Plans strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, and resource consumption while improving outcomes.
  • Serves as a role model for clinical practice to co-workers, students, and physicians.
  • Manages resources, establishes priorities, and modifies the environment to meet patient care needs.
  • Completes manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frames.
  • Uses problem-solving methods to resolve patient and personnel situations.
  • Participates in the orientation of new employees and provides feedback to staff.
  • Participates in unit, hospital, and system activities to facilitate decision making.
  • Assists in educational activities for the unit/department.
What We Require
  • Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing from an accredited college or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
  • Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
  • Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on the specific work unit.
  • Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical records (EPIC).
