Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver compassionate, high-quality inpatient care. Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required at hire.
  • CA RN license required at hire.
  • BLS CPR certification required; ACLS preferred/required.
  • Experience in acute care telemetry/critical care or step-down settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical/psychosocial assessment and follow the plan of care.
  • Formulate and participate in the plan of care and transitions.
  • Adapt education and information to patient and family; integrate teaching during care.
  • Communicate plan of care and changes to the interdisciplinary team, patient, family, and significant others (SBAR).
  • Make independent clinical decisions and advocate for patient rights and needs.

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate.
  • Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options).
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care.
  • Communicates patient's plan of care and significant changes to all members of the interdisciplinary team (using SBAR hands off reporting) and to the patient, family and significant others.
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict.
