Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding seeks an experienced RN to join its Float/Flex Team. You will deliver high-quality patient care, perform skilled assessments, and participate in a dynamic interdisciplinary environment focused on outcomes and recovery.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Nursing with a CA RN license and cardiac telemetry experience within the last five years.
  • CA RN license required upon hire; ACLS, BLS, PALS and NRP certifications preferred or to be obtained.
  • BSN preferred; strong assessment, critical thinking and patient-centered care required.

Responsibilities

  • Float to departments as assigned with professional handoff to avoid interruptions in care.
  • Perform routine assessments and follow care plans, notifying physicians as appropriate.
  • Formulate and adapt care plans addressing patient needs and transitional care options.
  • Tailor teaching to patients and families, integrating education during care.
  • Ensure efficient care delivery, identify priorities, and propose solutions.
  • Make independent clinical decisions based on education and experience.

  • Floats to departments as assigned and accepts assignments and duties with a professional approach so that patient hand off is done without interruption of care
  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate
  • Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care
  • Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience
Job Requirements

Required:

  • Associate Of Nursing 1-year consecutive recent (within the last five years) Cardiac Telemetry experience or higher level critical unit experience. May train when operational considerations allow
  • Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 6 - months and
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 6 - months

Preferred:

  • Bachelors Of Science, upon hire
