Qualifications

  • One year recent open heart or critical care experience.
  • Registered Nurse license in CA at hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR at hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data and follow the plan of care.
  • Forms a plan of care for individual needs and participates in planning routine transitional health care needs.
  • Adapts educational programs to individual patients and families by modifying teaching strategies.
  • Communicates plan of care and significant changes to the interdisciplinary team, patient, and family.
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on education and experience.
  • Advocates for patient rights and seeks resolution of conflict.

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate.
  • Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options).
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care.
  • Communicates patient's plan of care and significant changes to all members of the interdisciplinary team (using SBAR hands off reporting) and to the patient, family and significant others.
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict.
Job Requirements
Required
  • One year recent open heart or critical care experience. May consider training with 1 year continuous, recent (within 1 year) experience in telemetry or step down unit if operational considerations exist.
