Job summary

vTech Solution in Sitka, AK seeks a Registered Nurse to deliver professional nursing care across the lifespan in a primary care setting, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care with cultural sensitivity and patient-centered focus.

The RN collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote safety and positive outcomes, documents in the electronic health record, and participates in orientation, mentoring, and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Clinical competency validation within 3 months and every 3 years thereafter.
  • High Risk Competency validation within 3 months and annually.
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based practice, medication safety, and infection prevention.
  • Strong clinical judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods; bending, stooping, kneeling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
  • Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs.
  • Deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care.
  • Exercise independent nursing judgment in determining appropriate nursing actions and priorities.
  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and referrals.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
  • Provide guidance and delegation to ancillary staff; support orientation and mentoring.
  • Float to other departments or assignments as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Clinical competency validation within 3 months and every 3 years thereafter.
  • High Risk Competency validation within 3 months and annually.
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based practice, medication safety, and infection prevention.
  • Strong clinical judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Case Management certification.
  • Specialty-specific certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC obtained within six months of hire, as applicable.
Special Considerations:
  • Must comply with Alaska Board of Nursing scope of practice and organizational policies.
  • High-risk competency validation for direct patient care roles is mandatory.
  • May be required to float to other departments or assignments.
  • Work environment includes moderate-to-high noise clinical settings.
  • Employees are responsible for safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions.
Scheduling:
  • Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
