Pay Range:

$41.66 - $58.69The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and evidence-based practice. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. The RN collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and positive patient experience.

The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient‑centered nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting, supporting individuals and families across the continuum of care. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; administer medications and treatments; perform clinical procedures; and provide patient education and care coordination in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams. The Ambulatory RN ensures accurate documentation, adherence to infection control and regulatory standards, and efficient clinic operations while promoting quality outcomes, patient safety, and culturally responsive care in a fast‑paced ambulatory environment.

Qualifications
Education & Licensure

Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Case Management certification - preferred.

Clinical competency required within 3 months and every 3 years.

High Risk Competency required within 3 months and every year.

New Nursing Program Graduates

BLS required at the time of hire

All certifications required for the area of practice must be obtained within six (6) months of hire (e.g.,

ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC

, as applicable)

Experienced Nurses - New to a Specialty Area:

Experienced nurses entering a new specialty must obtain all required specialty‑specific and advanced certifications within six (6) months of hire (e.g.,

ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC

, based on practice area requirements)

Experienced Nurses

Nurses hired directly into a specialty area must provide evidence of current required certifications for the position at the time of hire (e.g.,

ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC

Nurses with Float Areas:

Nurses who float to areas other than their primary location must complete the required certifications for the highest level specialty in which they will provide care

High‑Risk Competency

High‑risk competency validation is required for direct patient care nursing roles. The high-risk competencies are specific to the area of practice (e.g., proficiency in complex medical equipment, procedures, interventions, etc.). Competency will be assessed before ending initial preceptorship and no less than annually thereafter.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based practice, medication safety, and infection prevention.

Strong clinical judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Ability to work in a moderate-to-high noise clinical environment.

Safety Responsibility

Employees are responsible for complying with safe work practices, reporting injuries and unsafe conditions, and cooperating in safety investigations.

Education,
Certifications, and Licenses Required

Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before start date. Agency staff must have an active Alaska license.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years

High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year

Experience Required

1 year of acute care experience preferred.

Knowledge of

Nursing process and the ability to apply this in the working environment.

Customer service principles.

Safety and infection control principles.

Skills in

Completing assessments, anticipation of needs, and specimen collection.

Use of equipment such as computers and medical equipment.

Effective oral and written communications skills.

Ability to

Multi-task and work independently in fast paced environment.

Be a team-player.

Willing to teach when appropriate.

Problem-solve and use critical thinking skills to develop and maintain good working relations with other staff and departments.

Willingness to ask for help when encountering a new or challenging situation.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move 50 lbs.
