Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center is seeking a motivated RN PRE-OP to join our PACU team for PRN coverage. The role supports outpatient procedures across Orthopedics, Neurology, ENT, Pain Management, Podiatry, and Plastic Surgery.

Position requires weekdays only with no weekends, holidays, or calls. Some early mornings or late evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical flow.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Texas, in good standing.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS a plus).
• 1–2 years of experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or perioperative nursing preferred.
• Ambulatory surgery center or outpatient setting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, efficient care to patients in the immediate post-anesthesia phase
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions or complications following surgery
• Manage airway, pain control, and vital signs until patients meet discharge criteria
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly
• Administer medications and respond to changes in patient status using sound clinical judgment
• Provide patient education and post-op instructions to patients and their families
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow RNs to ensure seamless transitions of care
• Adhere to infection control and patient safety standards at all times
