Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Pre-Transplant Coordinator (RN) to lead referral evaluation and waiting period activities for liver transplant candidates. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary evaluations, provide patient and family education, and communicate outcomes to the transplant team, ensuring safe, compassionate pre-operative care.

The role requires four years of nursing experience or three years in Oncology/BMT, active Texas RN licensure, and proficiency in coordinating complex care

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing and RN licensing.
• Texas license must be obtained within 60 days if relocating.
• 4 years nursing experience or 3 years Oncology/BMT experience.
• Transplant ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate candidate status and evaluation outcomes to the transplant team.
• Coordinate evaluation, waiting, and pre-operative phases for transplant candidates.
• Educate patients and families about living donor options and transplant regulations (OPTN/UNOS/NMDP).
• Maintain documentation of listing decisions, denials, or waitlist status.
• Collaborate with physicians and interprofessional team to ensure quality care.
• Monitor patient needs and triage during waiting and pre-operative phases.
