Job summary

Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay, OH is seeking a Pre-Surgical Screening RN to perform pre-anesthesia interviews, educate patients, review tests and procedures, and coordinate care with anesthesiology and other departments to ensure patient readiness for surgery.

Responsibilities include documenting data, assisting in the registration area, and providing perioperative education to patients and families; active participation in competency, education, and department projects.)

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience.
• BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to work at the computer for long periods; keyboard skills.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer education on all test/procedures.
• Conducts thorough and accurate pre-anesthesia interviews.
• Assures completeness of pre-operative data, labs, and testing.
• Provides pertinent peri-operative education to patient/family.
• Notifies appropriate disciplines/departments of preparatory interventions and treatments.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across the life span and ability to adapt care to age-specific needs.
• Participates in planning for and prioritizing education needs in the department.
• Completes the annual competency program and documentation requirements.
• Provides training for projects assigned.
• Promotes a positive image of the department and organization; communicates with leadership.
• Shares knowledge with department associates.
