Job summary

The Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center is seeking a Pre-Surgical Screening RN to perform pre-anesthesiology assessments, educate patients, review tests, and coordinate with anesthesiology to ensure readiness for surgery. You will document patient information and assist in registration while delivering direct patient care as directed.

This role emphasizes age-appropriate care, ongoing education, competency, and positive collaboration with departments and coworkers.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience.
• BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to work at the computer for long periods.
• Knowledge of medically related equipment for surgical procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer education on tests and procedures.
• Conducts thorough pre-anesthesia interviews.
• Ensures completeness of pre-operative data, labs, and testing.
• Offers peri-operative education to patient/family.
• Notifies disciplines/departments of preparatory interventions.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care across the life span.
• Participates in education planning and competency programs.
• Completes annual competency documentation.
• Provides training for projects and maintains positive department image.
• Collaborates with coworkers and reports to the director.
• Pursues learning opportunities and shares knowledge.
