As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role of the RN includes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes. YNHHS nurses practice within a framework that emphasizes autonomy and accountability, utilizing evidence and data to support patient-centered practice.
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program. 1 year of acute care experience required. Pediatric and Heme Onc/BMT experience preferred.
Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification encouraged.
Prolonged standing and walking; ability to assist with patient lifting; exposure to infectious diseases and emotional stress.
