Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital is seeking a skilled RN to join the Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. You will deliver direct nursing care, implement and adjust care plans, monitor patient conditions, and educate patients and families throughout recovery from anesthesia and procedures.

The role requires RN licensure, ADN/BSN, and BLS, with at least one year of acute care experience or licensed military RN experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through AHA or American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience.

The Pre and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), also known as the Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit, is a critical care unit within the hospital's Perioperative Services that provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing anesthesia and recovering from surgery or procedures. This unit plays a vital role in the surgical process by closely monitoring patients' vital signs, managing pain, addressing post‑anesthesia side effects and ensuring a safe and smooth recovery before they are discharged or moved to inpatient rooms. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

How You’ll Benefit

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days + on‑call shifts between 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Two years of PACU experience

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $43.00

Maximum hourly: $43.00
