The Pre and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), also known as the Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit, is a critical care unit within the hospital’s Perioperative Services that provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing anesthesia and recovering from surgery or procedures. This unit plays a vital role in the surgical process by closely monitoring patients’ vital signs, managing pain, addressing post-anesthesia side effects and ensuring a safe and smooth recovery before they are discharged or moved to inpatient rooms.As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.
How You’ll Benefit
A caregiver in this role works days + on-call shifts from; start times between 5:30am - 10:00am and end times between 4:00pm - 8:30pm. with Saturday rotation and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
