PICU
The pediatric critical care team at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center in Temple cares for children who are very ill or medically unstable with a 16-bed unit. These situations may result from very serious disease, infection or injury sustained from trauma, such as a traumatic brain injury.
Children in the PICU often have very complicated medical conditions that involve one or more pediatric medical specialties, such as pulmonology or cardiology. Our critical care specialists manage your child’s care in the PICU, working alongside other physicians dedicated to your child’s health. This ensures a coordinated, comprehensive treatment plan best suited to your child’s needs.
“We are a very team-oriented unit that is vested in growth and development. PICU has several unit-based committees you can be a part to help the unit grow and develop. We also have a very active confetti committee that loves to celebrate all things. The PICU has been the recipient of the Daisy unit award, and we have countless winners and nominees.”
