Job summary

BSWH McLane Children’s Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to join the PICU team in Temple, TX. This full-time position offers 7A–7P shifts (36 hours per week) in a high-acuity pediatric unit providing life-sustaining, post-surgical, and ECMO-capable care.

You will assess patients, develop and implement care plans, educate families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional pediatric critical care.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of start date.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Specialized field of study in pediatric nursing preferred.

The pediatric critical care team at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center in Temple cares for children who are very ill or medically unstable with a 16-bed unit. These situations may result from very serious disease, infection or injury sustained from trauma, such as a traumatic brain injury. Critically ill children stay in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a dedicated area of the hospital with sophisticated technologies and highly trained staff who specialize in treating children in serious or critical condition.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
