Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit in Temple, TX. This full-time night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) role provides care to patients from newborns to 21 years old in a 48-bed unit, with opportunities to administer pediatric chemotherapy.

The ideal candidate has 1-2 years pediatric nursing experience, strong communication and teamwork skills, and a commitment to family-centered care.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of starting.
• Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care plans.
• Educate patients and families, documenting learning needs and progress.
• Delegate tasks to team members while ensuring safety and quality.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team to address patient needs and plan care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with policies.

The Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit is a 48-bed, all private room unit caring for patients ages 0-21 years. Nurses care for a diverse pediatric population, including general medical-surgical and pediatric hematology-oncology patients, with opportunities to administer pediatric chemotherapy.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

• As an RN, conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
• Building relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
• Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues.
• You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.

• A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
