Job summary

Ochsner Health in Louisiana seeks a registered nurse to collaborate with department managers to identify, trend, and analyze clinical quality issues, facilitate resolution, and play a key role in accreditation and survey processes within the organization. The role supports Advanced Certification Specialty programs where applicable.

You will participate in Joint Commission readiness, provide education on performance improvement and patient safety, and act as a resource for regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • RN license in the state of practice (required).
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required).
  • 3 years of experience as a professional nurse in an acute care setting (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred).
  • 5 years of experience as a professional nurse in an acute care setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct report analyses on occurrences, outcomes, and other indicators.
  • Participate in organization committees to provide data analysis and trend reports for performance improvement.
  • Educate the organization on performance improvement, clinical patient safety, and statistical analysis.
  • Serve as a resource for regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission Mock Surveys and survey readiness.
  • Engage in risk management through identification, trending, and follow‑up of clinical issues.
  • Adapt behavior to diverse patient populations with respect for privacy and communication style.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job description

Education

Required – Registered nurse diploma.

Work Experience
  • Required – 3 years of experience as a professional nurse in an acute care setting.
  • Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Preferred – 5 years of experience as a professional nurse in an acute care setting.
Certifications
  • Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • General knowledge of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability) and travel throughout and between facilities.
Job Duties

Physical and Environmental Demands

The role requires moving objects weighing 20–50 pounds occasionally and 10–25 pounds frequently, with some light work requirements. Duties routinely involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues, and there is occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medication or waste.
