Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Grand Blanc, Michigan, is seeking a Registered Nurse - Patient Placement Specialist Casual to assist in admission decisions and bed management within the Nursing Support team.

You will evaluate admission criteria, coordinate with physicians and departments, and help ensure appropriate patient placement and flow, with emphasis on efficient processes and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• Licensed by the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
• Three years’ experience as licensed RN in an acute care setting or physician office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications with the ability to type 40 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes inpatient admission criteria to assign only diagnoses that meet acute care criteria.
• Acts as a resource for physicians regarding admission status.
• Supports the utilization function by performing efficient work processes.
• Receives bed requests and coordinates admission/transfer planning.
• Follows Clinical Guidelines for Patient Placement as directed by the Manager.
• Contacts physicians and staff to obtain scheduling information as needed.
• Compares available beds with surgery and study schedules.
• Maintains records and documentation related to the work.
