Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, seeks a registered nurse to oversee daily shift operations of the Center for Patient Flow, ensuring appropriate staff assignments and fair resource use.

You will supervise patient flow activities, coordinate transfer center and bed assignments, collaborate with physicians and nursing leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead corrective action plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing with 3 years of related experience, or an Associate's degree in Nursing with 5 years of related experience.
• Current RN license or eligibility by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on the unit.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shift operations of the Center for Patient Flow.
• Ensure staff assignments are appropriate and resources allocated fairly.
• Provide oversight of all patient flow activities, including transfer center and bed assignment process.
• Collaborate with physicians, NRC, unit charge RNs and nurse managers, ancillary departments, and outside agencies to ensure timely and clinically sound placement of all patients.
