Job summary

Heartland Health Services in Pekin, Illinois is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide professional nursing care, coordinate day-to-day patient activities, and educate patients and families in accordance with Heartland Health Services' mission and standards.

The RN will manage high-volume patients, support clinical teams, administer medications as directed, document care in the EHR, and uphold safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Current State license as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of growth and development principles and patient needs.
• Time management and organizational skills; ability to multi-task.
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient, family, and team interactions.
• One year office or acute care experience preferred.
• Basic Word and Excel knowledge preferred but not required.
• EMR experience preferred but not required.
• Basic Life Support certification; must obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manages high-risk, high-volume patients of all ages to maintain or improve health.
• Oversees evaluation, treatment decisions, and related care.
• Develops and implements standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
• Participates in quality improvement to increase outcomes and satisfaction.
• Provides education to patients and families regarding conditions and treatment plans.
• Coordinates services with other locations and maintains communication with allied services.
• Assists clinicians with procedures and medication administration as directed.
• Ensures informed consent is obtained and patient safety is maintained.
• Delivers routine care and documents care in the EHR and related systems.
• Communicates pertinent information to the healthcare team.
• Schedules clinician appointments and processes medication refills.
