Mercy St. Louis is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Phase I PACU unit. This full-time role covers 3 x 12-hour shifts (1100–2330) per week and involves providing post-anesthesia care, closely monitoring patients, and collaborating with the anesthesia team.

The PACU team cares for a range of postoperative patients, from routine recoveries to ICU-level cases. Strong critical care skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited RN program and active RN license.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association.

Responsabilités

• Provide post-anesthesia care using the nursing process for PACU patients.
• Collaborate with anesthesia team to monitor patients after surgery.
• Monitor ventilators, lines, drains, and patient status; respond to changes.
• Support a self-covered, collaborative PACU team and participate in call requirements.

PACU RN | Mercy St. Louis

The PACU at Mercy St. Louis is a Phase I recovery unit caring for patients after surgery or procedures requiring general anesthesia. Nurses work closely with the anesthesia team and care for patients ranging from routine post-op recoveries to critically ill ICU-level patients.

Strong critical care skills are essential, including experience with ventilators, airway management, vasoactive drips, chest tubes, drains, central lines, and arterial lines. The unit supports a variety of surgical specialties, including ENT, General Surgery, GU, GYN, Bariatrics, and Pediatrics.

PACU nurses care for both adult and pediatric patients, participate in weekend and holiday call, and work in a highly collaborative, self-covered team environment. ICU, ED, Critical Care, or PACU experience is strongly preferred.
