Job summary

Mercy St. Louis is seeking a skilled PACU RN to provide high-quality post-anesthesia care in a Phase I recovery unit. This full-time role involves collaborating with the anesthesia team, monitoring vitals, managing airway support, and ensuring patient safety through careful handoffs.

The ideal candidate holds BLS, is licensed as an RN, and has PACU or ICU experience. Weekend/holiday call is required, and Mercy offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• PACU/post-anesthesia care experience preferred or ICU experience.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association is required.
• Graduate from accredited RN program and active RN license.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in PACU using the nursing process and professional accountability.
• Coordinate patient care with anesthesia and other departments; ensure patient rights and confidentiality.
• Maintain safety through vigilant monitoring and documentation; participate in call rotations as required.

Position Details: Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital St. Louis PACU. Now Hiring - Full time. 1100-2330 3 x 12 hours shifts per week.

PACU RN | Mercy St. Louis

The PACU at Mercy St. Louis is a Phase I recovery unit caring for patients after surgery or procedures requiring general anesthesia. Nurses work closely with the anesthesia team and care for patients ranging from routine post-op recoveries to critically ill ICU-level patients.

Strong critical care skills are essential, including experience with ventilators, airway management, vasoactive drips, chest tubes, drains, central lines, and arterial lines. The unit supports a variety of surgical specialties, including ENT, General Surgery, GU, GYN, Bariatrics, and Pediatrics.

PACU nurses care for both adult and pediatric patients, participate in weekend and holiday call, and work in a highly collaborative, self-covered team environment. ICU, ED, Critical Care, or PACU experience is strongly preferred.
