Job summary

Novant Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pediatrics department. This full-time role is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm with one Saturday morning rotation every 6–8 weeks.

Responsibilities include direct pediatric nursing care, triage, vaccines, venipuncture, IV therapy, medication administration, EMR documentation, and patient-family education. Collaborate with physicians and the care team to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in the applicable state is required.
• ACLS, PALS, BAT and DOT; preferred.
• One year of relevant nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients of all ages.
• Perform patient triage and determine the appropriate level of care.
• Administer vaccines according to established guidelines.
• Perform venipuncture and blood draws for laboratory testing.
• Start and maintain intravenous (IV) therapy as ordered.
• Administer medications safely by oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intravenous routes.
• Monitor patient responses to treatments and medications.
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient education.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and preventive care.
• Accurately document patient care in the EMR.
• Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Graduate of accredited school of nursing

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful death. What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
  • ACLS, PALS, BAT and DOT; preferred.
