Novant Health's Hemby Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC is hiring a Pediatric Registered Nurse for our 31-bed mixed medical-surgical and hematology/oncology unit, caring for patients from newborn to 18 years old. You’ll deliver family-centered care, monitor patients, administer treatments, and support families with compassion.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • RN licensure in the appropriate state is required.
  • One year of relevant nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Patients: conduct comprehensive assessments and monitor changes in patient condition.
  • Develop Care Plans: collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to create individualized plans of care.
  • Provide Nursing Care: administer medications, perform procedures, educate patients and families, respond to emergencies.
  • Evaluate Outcomes: monitor progress and adjust plans to achieve desired results.
  • Communicate Effectively: ensure safe handoffs and accurate documentation.
  • Delegate Responsibly: assign tasks while maintaining patient safety.
  • Promote Professional Practice: follow nursing standards and pursue ongoing development.
  • Support Team Success: mentor colleagues and contribute to teamwork.

What You'll Do
  • Assess Patients: Conduct comprehensive assessments, analyze clinical data, identify care needs, and anticipate changes in patient condition.
  • Develop Care Plans: Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to create and adjust individualized plans of care based on patient goals and needs.
  • Provide Nursing Care: Implement care plans, administer medications, perform nursing procedures, educate patients and families, and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Evaluate Outcomes: Monitor patient progress, assess responses to interventions, and modify care plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Communicate Effectively: Utilize SBARQ and other communication tools to ensure safe handoffs, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accurate documentation.
  • Delegate Responsibly: Assign tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability for patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Promote Professional Practice: Adhere to nursing standards, evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Support Team Success: Foster collaboration, mentor colleagues, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a positive team environment.
What We're Looking For
  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/certification/registration: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
