vTech Solution seeks an experienced OR Registered Nurse for a Level 1 trauma center in New York. The role involves scrubbing and circulating across diverse surgical specialties, ensuring sterile technique, patient safety, and efficient intraoperative flow.

You will collaborate with surgical teams, participate in on-call rotations, and support complex cases from transplant to orthopedics while maintaining perioperative certifications such as BLS and ACLS where applicable.

Qualifications

• Active NY RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years OR experience in Level 1 trauma center.
• Ability to scrub and circulate during surgeries.
• BLS certification required by AHA.
• Strong perioperative nursing and patient safety skills.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The SMH Level 4 Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) provides specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures including orthopedics, general surgery, plastics, urology, cardiac, neuro, vascular, ophthalmic, gynecology, ENT, thoracic, oral-maxillofacial, trauma, and transplant surgeries. This role requires proficiency in both scrubbing and circulating within a Level 1 trauma center environment. The nurse collaborates closely with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care to patients across multiple surgical specialties including trauma and transplant procedures.
• Scrub and circulate during surgical cases, ensuring sterile technique and efficient workflow.
• Assist with complex specialty cases such as transplants, plastics, reconstructive surgeries, craniotomies, and orthopedic procedures.
• Operate and assist with advanced surgical technologies including DaVinci robotic systems.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care before, during, and after surgery.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Respond promptly to on-call and callback requests as needed to support unit staffing.
• Float to other units or specialties within the hospital as required.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain certifications relevant to OR nursing.

Required Skills & Certifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State only.
• Minimum of two (2) years of operating room experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Ability to scrub and circulate effectively during surgeries.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong clinical skills in perioperative nursing and patient safety.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring highly desired.
• Specialty experience with transplant surgeries, plastics, reconstructive procedures, craniotomy, and orthopedic cases.
• Familiarity with DaVinci robotic surgical systems.

Special Considerations

• Must be available for day, evening, and night rotating shifts (D/E/N).
• On-call and callback availability required to support unit needs.
• Floating to other units and working holidays and weekends as scheduled.
• Work environment includes a Level 1 trauma center with high acuity and complex surgical cases.

Scheduling

• Rotating shifts covering days, evenings, and nights.
• Shift assignments based on unit needs with mandatory holiday and weekend coverage.
• On-call and callback shifts as required for staffing coverage.
