Job summary

Banner Health is seeking an Oncologic RN Navigator at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Sun City, AZ. The role focuses on comprehensive care coordination across the cancer care continuum, partnering with a multidisciplinary team to support patients, families, and caregivers.

The position emphasizes assessment, care planning, referrals, and discharge planning with a strong emphasis on patient-centered outcomes and communication. Monday–Friday day shifts with ten-hour blocks are typical.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher degree in nursing or related field
• Current RN license in state of practice; BLS certification
• 5 years of clinical experience preferred
• Excellent organizational and writing skills; proficient with word processing and databases
• Ability to teach clinical and non-clinical staff about care and diagnostics services

Responsibilities

• Assess plan of care and coordinate resources to meet patient health needs
• Evaluate medical necessity and optimize patient outcomes; liaise with referring physicians
• Coordinate diagnostic services and plan care with an interdisciplinary team
• Ensure patients and families understand diagnostic processes and care plans
• Set functional, measurable goals; initiate discharge planning and referrals
• Support patients and families through difficult decisions and end-of-life planning
• Contribute to process improvement and maintain high practice standards
• Promote collaboration with physicians, payers, and health-care team; communicate timely information to payers
• Operate independently within established procedures and escalate unusual cases as needed
