Job summary

Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN, seeks a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department Observation Unit. This full-time role covers nights (7pm-7am) with Weekend Only Work (WOW) plus one Weekday Nightshift, offering premium pay and a sign-on bonus eligibility for experienced external applicants.

The unit cares for patients expected to be in hospital for less than 24 hours; new graduates are welcome and EOE. The facility is located about 10 minutes from downtown Louisville.

Qualifications

• Current Indiana or compact state RN license.
• BLS for healthcare provider required.
• ACLS for Healthcare provider required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
• New Graduate RNs welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care from admission to discharge.
• Coordinate with ED staff to ensure timely patient care in the Observation Unit.
• Support on-shift teamwork and patient/family education.

Job Duties

In this role, the RN will be responsible and accountable for direct comprehensive nursing care for the patient from admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse will function as an on-shift team member providing direct patient care to meet the needs of patients, families, and co-workers.

About the Unit

The Observation Unit is a 29-bed unit affiliated with the Emergency Department and observes patients who are expected to be in the hospital less than 24 hours. Nurses in this unit care for a variety of patients including chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs. The unit is staffed with a provider between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM each day of the week to provide support and high-level care.New Graduate RNs welcome.
