Job summary

Baptist Health Floyd's Emergency Department Observation Unit seeks a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care from admission to discharge in a fast-paced setting. The unit observes patients likely staying less than 24 hours and handles chest pain, arrhythmias, and post-procedure care. 36 hours weekly, 7am–7pm, full-time; new grads welcome.

Benefit eligible with sign-on bonus up to $20,000 for experienced external applicants. Indiana license and BLS/ACLS required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

Job Duties

In this role, the RN will be responsible and accountable for direct comprehensive nursing care for the patient from admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse will function as an on-shift team member providing direct patient care to meet the needs of patients, families, and co-workers.

About the Unit

The Observation Unit is a 29-bed unit affiliated with the Emergency Department and observes patients who are expected to be in the hospital less than 24 hours. Nurses in this unit care for a variety of patients including chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs. The unit is staffed with a provider between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM each day of the week to provide support and high-level care. New Graduate RNs welcome.

Qualifications

• Current Indiana or compact state RN license required.
• BLS for healthcare provider required.
• ACL N for Healthcare provider required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
